Obituary:
Harold Anthony Scripka Sr.

75, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Detroit on December 23, 1934, the son of the late Daniel and Virginia (Neubauer) Scripka.
His marriage to Ruby Sloan was January 21, 1956, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Harold enter R.O.T.C. at Pershing High School, Detroit, and then served his country with the United States Marine Corp from 1952 thru 1962.
At 18 years of age, Harold began work at Western Electric and retired in 1987 after 35 years of service. In 1972, he earned his private pilots license and used it to work 17 years as a flight instructor at Big Beaver Airport, Troy, until his retirement in 1990.
Harold was a parishioner of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond. He loved photography and was an avid boatman and fisherman.
Surviving in addition to Ruby, his wife of 54 years, are a son and daughter in law, Hal (Cheryl) Scripka of Georgia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cathy Janowski of California and Sandy (Randy) Kania of Pinckney; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Amy, Ashley, Krystal, David, Will, Joseph, and Jacob; two sisters, Dianne Stegall of Port Huron and Cheri Zisler of New Baltimore; a brother and sister-in-law, Dan (Pat) Scripka of Chesterfield.
His family honors the memory of Harold and invites you to visit and share memories Friday 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with rosary devotion/scripture services at 7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Richmond, with 8:30 a.m. visiting. Fr. Joseph Plawecki will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Township.
